Devlog 55: Remodeling

Work on the new guard state machines is now mostly done, so now I’ve moved onto making some necessary changes in other levels to make sure everything is compatible. Since the guard redo took so long, a lot of other fixes are going to be patchwork at this point with the bare minimum done to ensure everything works fairly well together, as I’ve been working on the same levels with little new content and it’s greatly affecting my motivation to get everything done. However, once most of those fixes are in place a new update to the demo can be pushed out and work can resume on other parts of the game. Most of it has already been planned out, and with the new fixes and systems in place iterating on it should go much faster.

In other news, I’ve hired an artist to completely redo most of the existing tile and sprite art. I’m not quite ready to show it yet, but it’s going to be a massive improvement on the existing art and will really make the game stand out.
